Erica Banks was arrested after police discovered drugs on the rapper and her friend while they were in a stolen car.
According to a report TMZ published on Tuesday, December 9, the 27-year-old artist was riding in the passenger side of a vehicle driven by Amani Dirton on Monday when an officer from the Brookhaven Police Department noticed the tag had a tinted cover over it. Since it's illegal for license plates to be covered in any way in Georgia, the cop pulled them over. The officer also noticed that the car had dealer plates and was marked as stolen from Atlanta.
Banks and Dirton were ordered to step out of the vehicle. While searching the vehicle, the officer found numerous ecstasy pills in Banks' purse and "several packets" of marijuana on Dirton. The two were arrested and hit with drug charges. The "Buss It" rapper was charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance with intent to distribute, while Dirton was booked on charges including theft by receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and improper displayed license plate.
Erica Banks has yet to comment on the situation. Before she was arrested, Banks had recently released her latest project, Ain't Sh*t Stopped. The album comes with 10 tracks including collaboration with Trap Dickey, Seddy Hendrix and Mg Lil Bubba.
