Skilla Baby suffered from multiple gunshot wounds after he was the target of a drive-by shooting in his hometown.
According to a report FOX 2 Detroit published on Thursday night, May 22, the 26-year-old artist was riding around the area of 8 Mile and Beech Daly in a black SUV when his vehicle was hit by gunfire. The SUV crashed into a building after the shooting. Skilla Baby, born Trevon Gardner, was shot in the leg while bullets grazed his head. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he's currently recovering. He's expected to survive the incident.
In a video shared by Metro Detroit News, you can see the black SUV that crashed into a brick building with multiple bullet holes. The outlet reports Skilla was targeted in the shooting. The suspect immediately fled the scene after the shooting. Police have not identified the suspect and are actively investigating the shooting. As of this report, Skilla Baby has not commented on the situation.
Skilla Baby is one of the more prominent rap artists to emerge from Detroit in recent years. He gained plenty of notoriety following the release of his Crack Music album series, along with other projects like Standing On Bidness (2021) and Detroit Raised Me (2022). Skilla gained mainstream appeal after Jack Harlow shouted him out in his smash hit "Lovin On Me" in 2023. Since then, he's worked with French Montana, Rob49, Yung Miami, Tee Grizzley and more.
